Sixty Years on and the Spirit remains strong

1951 was the Festival of Britain, a time for celebration as we put the years of war and deprivation behind us. Who would have thought that sixty years on the spirit of that year would still be with us for the SIXTIETH CARSHALTON CARNIVAL?

The Carnival Parade themed this year as "All Creatures Great & Small" will start its journey from the Sutton Arena at 12.00 noon working its way down Green Wrythe Lane, past Carshalton College and down North Street. Over the ponds and along the High Street then around to Carshalton Park in Ruskin Road arriving at 1.30pm

The Fete in Carshalton Park opens at 12.00 noon; Rose's Funfair will be with us. A licensed bar, hot and cold food and over 50 stalls representing local organisations presenting absolutely everything you can think of by way of entertainment for the family. Our regular balloon race will again be a feature of the day.

In the main arena Radio St Helier will accompany an afternoon of entertainment and our 2011 Carnival Queen Eleanor Pryse-Hawkins will be crowned. The headline arena acts this year are The Stannage International Stunt Team and Team MAD.
We are in for a real treat with High Falls, indeed Flaming High Falls and by the end of the Team Mad show you will all have marvelled at what can be done on a bicycle. These two major acts will be supported by some of our regular performers such as the Carshalton Cheerleaders and also a return of the excellent Romford Drum & Trumpet Corps.

The Carshalton Carnival Music Showcase in its eighth year, in association with local promoter Rockstock, will operate from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Local bands will gain valuable exposure, performance experience and be able to show off their talents. The showcase takes place on a specially constructed stage in the upper bowl.

The Carnival is run by a committee of dedicated volunteers, supported by Wallington & Carshalton Round Table and Carshalton Rotary Club, for the benefit of the local community and is a not for profit event.

Entrance to the park is £2.50 for Adults and £1 for Children

Rose’s Funfair runs from 5pm on Friday evening 10th June through to Sunday 12th June.
