FIELD GUN CARRIAGE COMPETITION COMES TO CARSHALTON CARNIVAL!

On Saturday June 12th the Carshalton Carnival & Funfair once again comes to Carshalton Park organised by Wallington & Carshalton Round Table and The Rotary Club of Carshalton.

The park in Ruskin Road, Carshalton opens at noon on Saturday 12th June where there will be Rose’s Funfair, a licensed beer tent, hot and cold food outlets, over 60 fete stalls featuring cottage industries (cakes, pottery, clothing and other handmade goods) plus professional and charity stalls for the whole family.

For the first time ever, Carshalton Carnival will have the magnificent Field Gun Carriage Competition - our own version of the Royal Tournament Gun Run event!

In addition, there will be a spectacular free-flying falconry display, marching bands, the Carshalton Cheerleaders. Croydon Steel Band and Pete & Alice the Eagles – the official Crystal Palace FC mascots – will also be joining in the fun. Visitors will also be able to enter the Carnival Balloon Race for a chance of winning cash prizes for the furthest distance travelled.

The theme for this year’s Carnival Parade is “West End Musicals” and the parade is sure to be full of fun, excitement and razzamataz! The parade features around 20 floats, leaves Sutton Sports Arena at noon and winds its way through the streets of Carshalton before arriving at the park at13:30 where the crowning of the Carnival Queen Rachel Digman will take place.

The Carshalton Carnival Music Showcase returns for a seventh year in association with local promoter RockStock. From 4:00pm to 7:00pm local bands will gain valuable exposure, performance experience and be able to show off their talents. The showcase takes place on a specially constructed stage in the upper bowl.

The Carnival, run consecutively for 58 years, is a non-profit event arranged by a small-dedicated team for the benefit of the local community. Entrance to the park is £2 for adults and £1 for children.

Rose’s Funfair also runs from 5pm on Friday June 11th. On Sunday June 13th there is a Car Boot Sale from 7:30am to noon run by Carshalton Inner Wheel, and Rose’s Funfair will open again from noon.
